What is True Cost?
True Cost is a mobile app that makes tracking your business expenses and income easy. Snap a receipt and the scanner reads the details and sorts it into a category. Your transactions become a searchable list you can export to CSV or PDF when tax season comes. It can even split tax and tip across line items to show each item's true cost.
Who is it for?
True Cost is built for small businesses, freelancers, and independent contractors who want to reduce tedious manual data entry and never miss a deductible expense.
Which platforms is True Cost available on?
True Cost is available now on iOS. Download it free from the App Store, and an Android version is on the way; tap “Get Started” to be ready when it lands.
Receipt scanning
How does the receipt scanning work?
Snap a photo of any receipt and AI reads the merchant, total, tax and line items for you, then sorts it into a category. You can review and edit everything before saving, with no manual data entry.
What kinds of receipts can I add?
Snap a photo of a paper receipt, or import a digital receipt or screenshot from your photo library, and True Cost scans it automatically.
Data & privacy
How is my data backed up securely?
Your saved transactions sync to the cloud and stay tied to your account, so you can reach them from any device. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest.
Exports & reports
Can I export my expenses?
Yes. Your saved receipts become a transactions list you can export as a CSV (for spreadsheets and bookkeeping) or a polished PDF report, handy for taxes and reimbursements.
Can I download all my receipts?
You can download your receipt images along with your expense data, or bundle everything into a single PDF report.
Can I see a summary of my spending?
Yes. Summary reports let you review your spending across a category or time period, so reconciling the month takes minutes.

How much does it cost?
True Cost is free to download and try. A subscription unlocks unlimited receipt scanning and expense tracking — pick an Individual plan, or a Team plan to bring everyone on board. Plans are billed weekly, monthly, or yearly, start with a free trial, and you always see the exact price for your region before you subscribe.
